Unfortunately the wall that this client wanted to remove was load bearing, and she really didn’t want to see a drop beam when finished, so we had to get creative fitting this hidden LVL beam into the ceiling cavity. In the end, the beam and all its supports were completely hidden within the walls and ceiling. When building a support such as this, it is important to ensure that the load has the ability to transfer directly to the ground, so an additional support and concrete pier were laid right below the support column in the crawl space below.
Bamboo Flooring
New bamboo flooring in the kitchen matched up almost perfectly with the existing floor from the rest of the house. The color was a little different, and even the flooring thickness wasn’t quite the same, but we were able to match the seams up so closely that you can’t even tell!
